Law and order situation in Karachi: MQM raises the issue with President Zardari
Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 12:04:08 by Fayyaz YaseenKarachi: (Monday, July 23, 2012) Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leaders, in a meeting with the President Zardari here today, have raised the issue of deteriorating law and order situation in the metropolitan city.
For past many months, target killings, kidnapping for ransom and extortions are rife in the economic hub of Pakistan.
The MQM took up this issue with the president during a meeting at the Bilawal House in Karachi. The delegation included Federal Minister Dr Farooq Sattar, Babar Khan Ghori, Begum Nasreen Jalil, Sindh Minister Raza Haroon, Dr Sagheer
Ahmed and Mohammad Adil Siddiqui.
During the meeting, overall political scenario of the country along with the matters related to coalition partners came under discussion.
Giving a briefing to the media personnel after the meeting, Raza Haroon said that the president has directed the Prime Minister to convene a round table conference to deliberate upon the matters highlighted by one of the core coalition
partners of the PPP.
In context of the upcoming general elections, and to have a better environment in the city, the MQM has also started contacting leaders of other political parties. In this regards, they are going to meet political leaders such
as PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Ameer Jamat-e-Islami Munawwar Hassan tomorrow.
