The Senate Standing Committee on Weather Changes has been informed that 30 million people are feared to be affected from impending flood and rains. 1.46 million people would have to be shifted in camps in case of emergency.
The Senate committee meeting was held under the chairmanship of Senator Sadia Iqbal. The Ministry of Weather Changes and National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) during the briefing informed the committee that 11 billion rupees would be required to
provide ration to affected people.
The Committee was also informed that so far federal government, Punjab and Sindh governments did not allocate money for disaster.
It was informed that it has been asked to Federal, Punjab and Sindh governments to allocate the five billion rupees each for impending flood and rain.
Meanwhile KPK and Balochistan governments were asked to allocate three billion rupees each, AJK and FATA were asked to allocate one billion rupees each. KPK has allocated 7 billion rupees and Balochistan government has allocated three billion rupees.
Meanwhile federal and other Provinces did not allocate so far any fund and no precautionary measures have been taken in FATA against the impending floods and rain.
However, Chairman NDMA said that the predictions of the metrological department about Mon Soon so far have not come true.
