US Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs to host “Around the World in an Afternoon”
Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 10:43:55 by Fayyaz YaseenThe U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs will host “Around the World in an Afternoon,” the second annual cultural and academic festival featuring Study of the U.S. Institutes participants. The Institutes
bring scholars and student leaders from around the globe to the United States for five to six week intensive academic programs.
On Thursday, July 26, 2012, the festival will bring together 156 students and 18 scholars from 32 countries at the Department of State. Through traditional dress, photos, cultural artifacts, and informal interactions with guests,
the students who are attending one of five Study of the U.S. Institutes for Student Leaders will showcase their home countries and cultures. Scholars participating in a Study of the U.S. Institute for Scholars will present their current research through an
academic poster session. Department of State employees and guests will have the opportunity to interact with the Study of the U.S. Institutes participants and learn from them about their cultures and research.
