Samsung Series 9 NP900X3C-A01 (2012): Full Review – Part 1
Tuesday, July 24th, 2012 3:35:18 by Usman KhalidSamsung’s new take at the ultrabook category with the revamped Series 9 notebook has paid dividends to the Korean Company. The new device is the lightest and the thinnest in the market; it even leaves behind Apple MacBook Air in some respects.
Although the price is a hundred bucks more than the new MacBook Air but every penny is worth spending on it. The lightest and thinnest chassis of the device is attractive and boats better ergonomics than other smaller footprint ultrabooks. Samsung surely has put in a lot of work in tweaking the design and dimensions of the device.
Matte-finish overall, sleek design and above average keyboard are some of the features in the Series 9. The new device however, has couple of new features like Core i5 Ivy Bridge processor and new 1,600×900 high resolution display. There are laptops in the market, ultrabooks in fact, that have 1080p resolution but a simple non-HD display is ample for a screen that has matte finish and is encapsulate inside a 12-inch chassis. The result is a crisp display that is more than acceptable.
The history of Series 9 goes way past the advent of ultrabook culture. Even before Intel started trademarked the term Ultrabook, and started bestowing the honours to OEMs on the accomplishments, Samsung had the Series 9. For its time, it was the slimmest of the devices, though remained a tad behind the Air from Apple but was still good looker.
