Federal Cabinet decides to take action against ‘The Sun’
Wednesday, July 25th, 2012 11:49:15 by Fayyaz YaseenIslamabad: (Wednesday, July 25, 2012) Meeting today and discussing the fake passport issue, the Federal Cabinet was informed that the allegations were baseless and no fake passport or identity card was issued to anyone.
Knowing the situation well, the cabinet decided to take the legal action against the British Newspaper ‘The Sun’.
During the federal cabinet meeting, that was called today to discuss various issues the ruling alliance facing today, Federal Interior Secretary, Chairman NADRA and DG Passport Department were also present and briefed the cabinet
members over the issue.
As the cabinet was told that there was no proof of fake passport or fake identity card, it decided to take legal action against the English newspaper ‘The Sun’.
Talking to the journalists after the cabinet meeting, Federal Information Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira said that legal action has been planned against the British Newspaper and an initiative in this regard will be taken soon.
He said, “The cabinet ordered the NADRA to file a defamation suit against the paper after consulting the law ministry.”
Taking a swipe on the biggest selling paper in Britain, Kaira said that it “does not have a good reputation.”
Responding to this news, The Sun said that it had only busted a racket involving a politician in Lahore that could have given access to the London Games as part of the Pakistani contingent in return for one million rupees ($ 10,000).
