In Easy Steps: Want to remove your name from Facebook ads?
Wednesday, July 25th, 2012 2:05:28 by Usman KhalidSocial media networks like Facebook are not only platforms to meet people anymore, but are now sources of information as well. However, much of that information comes from legal but audacious ways.
Everyone wants to hang out with friends or stay connected for gossips but there are certain distinctions in friendship, some are best buddies, some are family and some are mostly colleagues. Thus, rises an impulsive inclination toward segregating friends with certain privacy settings.
Almost everyone these days has friends divided in groups, like family, colleagues and friends, so that when the user wants certain information to go public to a certain audience, it does not get spilled.
Personalized ads on Facebook leave the aforesaid notion in tatters. Facebook, in an attempt to generate profits, has boosted up advertisements and one of the new features is personalized ads.
Without the intention of the user, these ads pick up a trend from the user’s account and post his/her name in the ads. For example, John Wayne likes Audi A7, which actually is not true. Not only these ads barge into your life and invade your intentions of liking and disliking things but also broadcast them to your friends and family, alike, without any distinction of groups that you made with so much hard work.
Luckily, Facebook has provided a solution to the problem, buried in a pile of settings.
Follow these instructions to disable your name in personalized adverts.
Log in to your Facebook account.
Go to the little arrow right next to Home button.
Clicking on it will drop down a menu that must have Account Settings.
On the left side is a small menu with Facebook ads at the bottom. Click on the tab and select social ads settings.
This will move the browser to next web page.
Select No One from the drop down menu and press Save Changes.
This way you will get rid of all the ads that have your name on them.
