Wladimir Klitschko says David Haye v Vitali Klitschko is on the card!
Thursday, July 26th, 2012 12:21:56 by Imran Shaukat KhanWladimir Klitschko, the current WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & The Ring heavyweight champion, has said that if David Haye really wants to fight his elder brother Vitali Klitschko, the current WBC heavyweight champion, than there is a good chance the bout could happen. However, Dr. Steelhammer doesn’t think Haye really wants the fight.
The 31-year-old brash Londoner, who is more commonly known as the Hayemaker, suffered a twelve-round unanimous defeat at the hands of Wladimir last year and when the Ukrainian refused to give him a rematch, he walked away from the sport.
Haye had said that he would only come out of retirement, if he will get a shot against any of the Klitschko brothers but he couldn’t live up to his words because he came out of retirement to beat former British heavyweight champion, Dereck Chisora, earlier this month, in a fight that was fuelled by bad blood.
Haye knocked out his fellow countryman in the fifth round and afterwards reiterated his desire to try and rip Vitali, who is currently set to face Manuel Charr on September 8 at the Olympic Indoor Arena in Moscow, Central Federal District.
The 40-year-old Vitali has plans to join politics in October this year but Wladimir has insisted that a date with Haye may force his brother to prolong his career.
“If you take a look in the past, it’s very difficult to follow what David Haye really wants,” Wladimir told Sky Sports News. “Retirement, not retirement; fighting, not fighting.
“He says he wants Vitali or me, then goes and fights someone else. He eventually fought me, which was great after all the talk.
“The chances are there [for Haye v Vitali]. David became a better person, and I hope he is more reliable than he used to be. We’ll see the next step. It’s very important Vitali wins the [Charr] fight, then we can continue to talk.”
Well, all said and done, a fight between David Haye and Vitali Klitschko would certainly be one of the biggest because people would want to see if Haye can avenge his defeat or not.
