50 Cent: Oscar De La Hoya should have kept his thoughts to himself!
Friday, July 27th, 2012 3:43:26 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe renowned American rapper, actor and entrepreneur, 50 Cent, who is a very close friend of the five-division world champion Floyd Mayweather junior, has finally stepped into the boxing world as a promoter and this news didn’t go well with the Oscar De La Hoya of Golden Boy Promotions.
De La Hoya is working with Mayweather for the last six years. Perhaps this is a reason why he couldn’t help himself and took the matter to his Twitter page.
De La Hoya tweeted, “Everyone wanting to be a boxing promoter? Good luck. Easier said then done.”
After the tweet 50 Cent, also known as fif, fired back at the Golden Boy and a war started between both parties.
Recently 50 Cent had an exclusive interview with Ben Thompson of Fighthype.com and while sharing his thoughts over the rift, he said De La Hoya should’ve kept his thoughts to himself.
50 Cent told BT of Fighthype, “I don’t really have any feelings towards him, but I think he was thinking out loud. He should’ve just kept his thoughts to himself; trying to give a subliminal message. What the fuck is that? You know what I’m sayin’? I’ll make sure I’ll relay the message though. He [Floyd Mayweather] may not physically be out here right now, but Ben, tonight, when I go see him, I’m gonna tell him.”
Though De La Hoya didn’t mention 50 Cent in his statement, the rapper says it was pretty obvious for anyone.
He said, “Yeah, of course it was. I mean, who else just had headlines at this point. I didn’t even make an announcement. It actually came out of the New York State boxing commission. It leaked out, you know what I mean?”
During the war of words, 50 Cent promised De La Hoya that Mayweather will not be working with him anymore now.
When 50 Cent was asked if he thinks Golden Boy would be worried or not about his statement, he immediately said yes. The 37-year-old insisted that he hardly fails in anything.
He added, “I think there are some legitimate reasons to worry. It’s very rare that I fail. I haven’t gotten into any category that didn’t catch on quick enough to win.”
