Ashish Sharma, a talented player in India, proved his mettle as he played tremendous badminton in the final contest against his top seeded team-mate Sachin Rawat and easily won the crown by beating him at Yonex Sunrise Hot Weather Delhi State Badminton Championship
2012 in Delhi, India, on July 18.
The third seeded Ashish, who remained impressive throughout the event, continued showing his elite class as he played at his best speed in the final battle and overpowered his higher ranked compatriot in a sensational battle.
The lower ranked Ashish played to his full potential and took the first game with a close margin but could not take the second set. Nevertheless, he found his rhythm in the final game and won the match with a respectable margin.
The top seeded Sachin, in the meanwhile, started his campaign in a competitive manner but failed to live up to expectations in the deciding set and lost to his lower ranked rival in rubber sets.
In the opening half, both shuttlers played positive and attacking badminton and remained toe-to-toe until the end of first half.
The in-form Ashish changed his tactics and disturbed the rhythm of his rival by employing variations in his strokes and remained successful in his strategy.
Ashish remained consistent in his positive performance against Sachin and won the game with a tight margin of 21-19.
However, Sachin also played impressive badminton in the following set as he controlled the driving seat this time by playing fast and aggressive badminton took a reasonable lead until the end of opening half.
The lower ranked Ashish tried his best to narrow the gap after the break but failed to manage it and lost the second game with a margin of 17-21.
Nevertheless, Ashish proved his worth in the deciding game as he put up staggering show of attacking badminton and remained in lead on score board until the mid-game interval.
The impressive Ashish continued his power play after the break and did not spare any chance for his rival in whole concluding phase to fight back in the game and ended it with a comfortable 21-15 score on the board.
The in-form Ashish stole the limelight by winning the Men’s Singles crown as he ended up the final battle with a reasonable score of 21-19, 17-21 and 21-15.
