Islamabad: (Thursday, July 26, 2012) In order to lessen the severity of the ongoing power crisis which has not spared people even in the month of Ramadan, the government has decided to loosen up its pockets and to pay Rs 24 billion
to 8 Independent Power Producers (IPPs).

According to the IPPs sources, the government has agreed to grant Rs 24 to clear the dues in three monthly installments. In this regard, the first installment of Rs 8 billion will be made in August.

They further said that the guarantees were about to expire for non-payment of dues by the government, so they went ahead and filed a petition in the Supreme Court.
