Samsung sells more Smartphones than Apple, Nokia and HTC together
Friday, July 27th, 2012 3:11:56 by Farasat AliNokia overtook Nokia as the world’s largest maker of phone, a post that is occupied by the Finnish company for the past 14 years. However, their dominance in Smartphones is now come to a point where they face sterner competition.
Samsung sold nearly 51 million Smartphones
in the second quarter of the year, double that of Apple or, seen another way, rather than Apple, Nokia and HTC together. Its market share worldwide is now of 35% versus 18% of Apple (second) followed by a distant Nokia with only 7%
of the market.
Outside of Smartphones, mobile phones and low midrange, its domain is also overwhelming: a 26% global share, ahead of Nokia with 23% and Apple with 7%, according to Strategy Analytics.
The secret behind their success has been a wide range of phones available in different prices, shapes, features and models. Basically they are offering phones or making phones that are a hit in all price range and quality, from
high end to the Galaxy S III to the middle and lower with the Galaxy Y.
This recipe has served South Korea to close a record profit during the quarter financially. The figures are for everybody to see: they admitted 41,500 million dollars in revenue and 5,900 million in benefits.
The picture will change something in the next two quarters, especially in the last, with Apple closing the gap if the iPhone 5 runs out in the market as its predecessors and perhaps HTC and Nokia could recover the lost ground as
well.
