Persecution of Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar must stop!
Friday, July 27th, 2012 3:01:06 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe Myanmar Rohingya Muslims are called foreigners, not given citizenship by the government and are branded as Bengalis because they speak a Bengali dialect. They are being killed brutally on daily basis and those who are alive have very limited facilities of education, health care and social activities.
The religious violence flared up after the 10 Rongon Tablighi Muslims visitors were debussed last month and killed in cold blood. The media reports confirm that about 15000 have been killed. More than 50 Muslim villages have been burnt. About 15000 Muslims running for safety tried to enter China but were returned by the border guards.
Earlier there were reports that many of them tried to go to Bangladesh in search of asylum but they were too turned back saying the country has already about 3,00,000 refugees living in two camps. There are about 1, 50,000 living on the Thailand border in a very pitiable state. Many have to live in make and shift tent-arrangements near Chinese border. Many of the Myanmar Muslims are hiding in jungles and some are forced to live in rickety boats.
Amid the sectarian violence, the state forces have added to the already dangerous state of religious violence. Media reports point out that army itself helps enhance sectarian religious feelings by killing the unarmed Muslims. The call to evacuate Muslim villages makes them internally displaced people. It has become a state sponsored killing and ethnic cleansing of an unarmed community.
Although emergency was declared, army called and curfew had to be clamped yet the security forces were found unable to control the frenzied sectarian killing by the Buddhist people whose religion, among other good things, teaches non-violence, end of hatred and elimination of ignorance.
Iranians plan to stage protest against this genocide in Myanmar. UN has sent Vijay Numbiar to the violence hit areas.
There is very less, if any, protest against this Universal Declaration of Human Rights, especially article number 3, 6, 13, 15 and 16 violations. The world human rights organization must speak and speak constantly on all forums. The UN is also expected to be more active because it is life and death melodrama which must end by all means.

What value is there in the existence of 1.5 billion Muslims when they in incapable of coming to the aid of 800,000 Rohinga Muslims in Burma? Can someone explain this to me?
As per my limited reading, the violence did not erupt after de-bussing and killing of pilgrims but alleged rape of a Rakhaine woman by Rohingya Muslims! We need to put our record straight. I would like to be corrected, if wrong.
