Saturday, July 28th, 2012 1:54:27 by Fayyaz YaseenKarachi: (Friday, July 27, 2012) At least one person is reported to be injured in a hand grenade attack on a departmental store in Karachi.
Apparently, the incident seems having its roots in the rampant extortions where business community is forced to pay extortions or in failing to do so they attacked by the miscreants.
According to the sources, the attackers, two in total, came along riding a bike and hurled the grenade at the main gate of the one of the chains of an international superstore located in the Gulshan-e-Iqbal area of the metropolis.
Unfortunately, the attack on the international supermarket near NIPA chowrangi came after threats received from the extortionists that they would attack the traders in the area if they did not submit to them.
The police is also of the view that blackmailers can be behind these attacks as they had been actively sending receipts slips to the shopkeepers demanding large amounts of money.
The injured was shifted to the hospital.
