India’s talented young shuttler Shradda Srivastva registered her superiority on court when she grabbed Women’s Singles title after giving a severe lesson to her team-mate Shambavi Bajaj in the final encounter of Yonex Sunrise Hot Weather Delhi State Badminton
Championship 2012 last week, in India.
Shradda, who was third seeded player in the tournament, continued her winning run and overpowered her lower ranked opponent Shambavi who was seeded at number seven in the Women’s Singles category.
The in-form Shradda was in wonderful form on court as she played impressive badminton in the whole contest and easily clinched the crown by ending up the final battle in straight sets.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Shambavi failed to put up strong show as she was helpless against the power play of her rival and lost the final encounter in straight games without showing good work.
Shradda put up wonderful show and showed her brilliance on court from opening rallies and dominated the pace with her impressive play.
On the other hand, Shambavi could not stop the aggression of Shradda and remained struggling to take the bird early from all areas.
The in-form Shradda was focused on court and she took a superb lead until the one-minute break.
The third seeded Shradda continued her positive play after the break and pushed her challenger in all corners. She remained consistent in her smooth ride and took the set with a stunning 21-8 score on the board.
The lower ranked Shambavi played better game in opening rallies of second set but failed to live up to expectations as her higher ranked opponent was on a different level.
The impressive Shradda remained in full swing as she again set up a smashing lead on score board until the mid-game break
After the interval, the higher ranked Shradda continued her aggressive play by keeping her pace quite high and did not show any mercy to her confused opponent.
Shradda sailed smoothly in the entire concluding phase of second game and easily wrapped up the set with a super margin of 21-10.
The spirited Shradda grabbed the crown by putting up strong show in the final battle and ended it up with a striking 21-8 and 21-10 score on the board.
