Sachin Tendulkar’s advice to Olympics hopefuls: Embrace pressure – don’t fight it
Sunday, July 29th, 2012 9:26:51 by Rana Nasir GhafoorIndia’s legendary cricketer Sachin Tendulkar has given his countrymen a simple advice, asking them to embrace pressure and not to fight it in the London Olympics.
India will be represented in various sports in the ongoing mega event, as it has sent the the largest ever contingent to London. Tendulkar has won many major titles for India in cricket, and wants others to do the same in Olympics.
He has been India’s main player over the past many years. The record-breaking batsman knows how to tackle the pressure and live up to the high expectations. He admitted the fact that the Indians will be under tremendous pressure in the Olympics, but advised
them not to panic.
Hindustan Times quoted him as saying: "There is no doubt pressure will be your continuous companion. If you fight that, it gets difficult. You have to just understand your body and mind and embrace it. It is easier said than done, but I think, once they
enter the playing area, they will all forget about the pressure. They would just want to focus on a good performance."
The Master Blaster is currently on vacation. He recently skipped the tour to Sri Lanka in order to give his family some time. The big man is the most successful batsman ever in history of the game, as he is the top scorer in both Test and ODI cricket.
Taking about his mantra of success, the maestro shared, "I am not the kind of person who sets targets like that. The entire world is there to win and there is going to be only one winner. It’s not going to be easy, but yes, we have winners in our contingent.”
“I would want to let our entire Indian squad know that we all are behind them. Whether you are successful or not, your effort will matter to us and for that you will always be heroes. It is the commitment that matters. As long as the heart says that we have
given our best’ we will be proud of you. It is about the hard work they have put in, the sacrifices they have made."
