Aamir Khan’s ‘Satyamev Jayate’ ends!
Monday, July 30th, 2012 3:36:33 by Imran Shaukat KhanThe first season of Amir Khan’s debut TV show ‘Satyamev Jayate’, which started on May 6, has finally ended now. The talk show, which started with the issue of female foeticide, garnered a lot of appericiation from almost everyone out there but the 13-week journey ended yesterday with the spotlight on the right to equality.
In the talk show Khan created awareness among the people by highlighting different social issues of the country. The actor brought forth unknown facts related to child sex, abuse, medical malpractice, manual scavenging and dowry.
He also had many meetings with the leading political parties of the country, especially after he highlighted the malpractices in the medical department.
An army of doctors went against the actor but he didn’t bother until proper actions were taken by the government.
In the grand finale, the 47-year-old superstar of the Indian film industry highlighted the basic tenets of the constitution that promises equality for all in the country since as per the reports the people in India are still subjected to discriminations on the basis of their caste and religion.
While speaking on his inclusion, Khan insisted that the constitution of India has not been able to live up to its promises.
“When India’s leaders envisaged building a new nation after independence, the constitution was the foundation stone of this endeavour. We had resolved to establish a sovereign, secular, democratic republic with justice, liberty, equality and fraternity for all. After 65 years of Independence, are we actually living up to those principles,” Aamir asked.
The final episode of the show especially commended the courage of ‘The Sarvodaya Trust’, which gave shelter to the Indian and Muslims children after the 2001 earthquake in Gujarat.
During the show the efforts of Sunitha Krishnan, a social worker always looking forward to rehabilitate prostitutes and rape victims through her anti-trafficking organisation ‘Prajwala’, were brought in front of everyone as well.
Amir Khan has said that he might come back with the second season of the show next year.
