Audi releases A7 with a new astounding design and jaw dropping navigation system – Part 2
Tuesday, July 31st, 2012 5:24:20 by Usman KhalidInstead of a V8 found in A8, the A7 has a V6 engine. Audi cleverly chopped of two cylinders for better fuel economy but did not give the huge car an impotent source of power. The 3-litre V6 is supported by a direct injection super charger that fires 310 horsepower and 325 pound-feet of torque to all wheels. The A7 reaches 60 miles an hour in a tad lower than five and a half seconds.
The fuel efficiency is not disappointing either. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) estimates that A7 does 18 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.
The interior is augmented by the navigation and audio system. As in any automobile, the audio screen takes the centre stage when it comes to car tech.
The navigation system is the best in the bunch. Instead of artificial line-marked maps, the new Google Satellite navigation system has Google Earth maps. The only difference in the outlook is the screen size; otherwise, the outlook of the app is the same as using Google Earth on a web browser.
The stereo system has a 14-speaker, and a subwoofer, Bang & Olufsen system that reproduces the sound way too high for some people’s standards.
In sum, the Audi A7 is a great car with great specs inside the cabin and hood alike. However, the overall design is something needs some getting used to. At $59,250 it is also good value for brand money.
The gear box is a good addition but the suspension is a turnoff sometimes. Due to the default sport settings, it is harsh on the driver sometimes. Moreover, the new audio system does not have Bluetooth streaming A2DP support.
