The doctors in government and private hospitals of Quetta are observing a strike Thursday following the call of Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Balochistan chapter against the kidnapping of another doctor of Bolan Medical Complex (BMC), Geo News reported.
Unknown armed men abducted a psychiatrist Dr Ghulam Rasool of BMC hospital from Brewery Road on Wednesday, two days after a kidnapped senior surgeon of the same college Dr Din Mohammad Bangulzai had been released.
Dr Rasool was on his way home after performing his duty at BMC when armed men intercepted him. They took him along to an unknown destination at gunpoint.
President PMA Balochistan Dr Sultan Tareen told Geo News that doctors have boycotted their duties at government and private hospitals against the abduction of Dr Ghulam Rasool, however, only the emergency department of government hospitals are providing
services.
He further told that a meeting of general body has been called to mull several options including boycotting the emergency services and resigning from the jobs. He told that they had given a deadline of 24 hours to the government to solve the matter that
will expire today.
Due to doctor’s strike, patients from the far-flung areas are facing severe difficulties in getting the treatment.
