After signing off from the American Idol, the 64-year old Steven Tyler recently disclosed that he had a mixed feelings of hate and love for the show.
He performed his duties as a judge for two years and took a seat alongside Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson. After completing two-year tenure, Tyler and J-Lo decided to part ways with the “Idol”, in order to pursue their own singing careers.
The Aerosmith front-man Tyler is now working on the promotion of his band’s upcoming studio album, “Music From Another Dimension!”
which is set to be released in November.
Meanwhile, Tyler talked about his experience as a judge on the “Idol”. He stated: “I loved it and hated it. It was a great job, I sat next to J. Lo and I made a ton of money. It was a moment in life and it became larger than life.” The downside, though, was how he said producers pushed him to become a Simon Cowell replacement and take on the role of the mean judge.
“The show’s about kids and what you do to nurture their talent,” he said of criticism that he and fellow departed judge Jennifer Lopez took it too easy on contestants and were afraid to offer negative critiques. “They wanted me to take the piss out of the kids and I don’t have that in me. That’s not what I’m about. That’s more about that
other guy. Not me.”
Since the two of the “Idol” judges left, it created an opportunity for singer/song writer Mariah Carey to step in the business. Carey was offered to work as a judge on the ‘Idol”, which she accepted. In the recent memory, she confirmed to be a part of the jury on the upcoming edition of the show. Moreover, a few other names are running to fill in the other vacant post of the judge on the show.
