Samsung releases a brief statement to the press during Samsung-Apple case – Part 2
Thursday, August 2nd, 2012 5:24:27 by Usman KhalidAs expected, the press release proved a charm to Judge Koh, who immediately asked Quinn for an explanation on who was behind the stunt.
Quinn immediately surrendered to the Judge, stating that the statement was issued with his explicit approval and authorization. However, it was a brief statement and not a press release. It was a humble request to do the righteous thing on the way to the final verdict.
The clippings from his statement:
“These false representations by Apple’s counsel publicly and unfairly called my personal reputation into question and have resulted in media reports likewise falsely impugning me personally….
“Far from violating any order, Samsung’s transmission to the public of public information disclosed in pretrial filings is entirely consistent with the Court’s statements….”
Quinn also explained before the judge that “Samsung’s brief statement and transmission of public materials in response to press inquiries was not motivated by or designed to influence jurors.”
Though it can be moulded as a biased decision on Lucy Koh’s part seeing it from where Quinn is standing. However, layering up the prejudice into biasness is sheer immature decision on Samsung’s part. Koh is a veteran and even if she has or had a soft corner for Apple she would never express it so explicitly.
Samsung should wait a little more to see who what shape the case adopts. Press releases are always a viable option and should anything go south, Samsung should take inevitable and risky step.
