Washington: (Thursday, August 02, 2012) The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has received $ 1.1 billion from the USA under the Coalition Support Fund (CSF) after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by the representatives
of the two countries on restoration of NATO supplies.

The CSF money, paid by the United States of America to Pakistan is designed to reimburse Pakistan’s expenditure on counter-insurgency operations. The funds had been withheld by the USA government after tensions between the two
countries increased over Salala check post incident following which Pakistan had closed the NATO supply routes.

On July 31st, the MoU was signed by US Charge D’Affairs Richard Hoagland and Additional Secretary of Defence Ministry Rear Admiral Farrokh Ahmad in Rawalpindi.

The accord has become operational after the MoU was signed by the two sides. The MoU will remain effective till December 31, 2015 and could be extended for one more year after the consultations.
