Govt. plans to lessen loadshedding; releases 10bn to Water, Power Ministry
Friday, August 3rd, 2012 1:44:50 by Fayyaz YaseenIslamabad: (Friday, August 03, 2012) responding to the hues and cries of the public that has resorted to violent demonstration across Pakistan, the government has decided to release Rs 10 billion to the Ministry of Water and Power
for making payments against due to Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and independent power producers (IPPs).
According to the sources, the officials at Ministry of Water and Power confirmed that they had been directed to release Rs 10 billion as dues in lieu of power subsidy. The said amount has been released, they confirmed.
With the instructions to release the due funds, the ministry has also been instructed to make it sure that the released funds be only used for clearing dues against subsidy pertaining to the current financial year and not the previous
one.
