Quetta: Doctors observe strike against Dr Ghulam Rasool’s abduction
Friday, August 3rd, 2012 12:46:55 by Fayyaz YaseenQuetta: (Friday, August 03, 2012) Doctors in government and private hospitals in Quetta observed complete strike on Thursday following the call from Pakistan Medical Association (PMA), Balochistan Chapter.
Other medical organizations also joined in the strike against the abduction of another doctor, Dr Ghulam Rasool, of Bolan Medical Complex.
On Wednesday, unknown med had kidnapped psychiatrist Dr Ghulam Rasool of BMC from Brewery Road, just two days after a senior surgeon of the same college Dr Din Mohammad Bangulzai had been freed.
Dr Rasool was kidnapped when he was on his way to home after performing his duty at the BMC. The armed men took him to an unknown destination at gunpoint.
Protesting against the event, and on the government’s ineligibility to stop such incidents, members of the PMA and medical organizations took out a rally from Civil Hospital in Quetta to the Press Club.
Recording the protest, PMA Balochistan chapter’s president Dr Sultan Tareen said that doctors across Balochistan had stopped working in emergency wards of hospitals.
He further said that the strike would continue unless Dr Rasool is released.
Due to doctor’s strike, patients from the far-flung areas, who were already deprived of decent medical care facilities, are facing severe difficulties in getting the treatment.
