Rebecca Soni and Tyler Clary of USA captured gold medals in the events of Women’s 200m breaststroke and Men’s 200m backstroke respectively at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
Soni, who won gold medal of the Women’s 100m discipline, went on a rampage in the 200m event. Her epic pace placed her significantly ahead of her opponents as she touched the wall with the timing of 2 minutes and 19.59 seconds for the crown of the event.
Her commendable effort remained 1.13 seconds faster from Satomi Suzuki of Japan, who secured second position of the discipline by producing a time of 2 minutes and 20.72 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Iuliia Efimova of Russian Federation, who remained only 0.20 seconds apart and clinched bronze medal of the race with the timing of 2 minutes and 20.92 seconds.
Efimova was chased by Rikke Pedersen of Denmark, who stayed half body length behind her foregoing finisher and touched the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 21.65 seconds.
Similarly, fifth finest spot of the race was secured by Martha McCabe of Canada, who stayed two body lengths apart and submitted a time of 2 minutes and 23.16 seconds.
On the other hand, Clary captured gold medal of the distant backstroke event. Clary remained just one stroke ahead of his following swimmer and tapped the finishing wall in a new Olympic record time of 1 minute and 53.41 seconds.
His ferocious efforts remained 0.37 seconds ahead of Ryosuke Irie, who outperformed Lochte on the finishing end and secured silver medal with the timing of 1 minute and 53.78 seconds.
Lochte stayed just one stroke slower from his former finisher and hit the finishing blockade with the timing of 1 minute and 53.94 seconds for bronze medal.
The third position holder was followed by Radoslaw Kawecki of Poland and Fenglin Zhang of China, who stayed one and a half body length apart and clocked an identical effort of 1 minute and 55.59 seconds for fourth position.
Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades for their notable efforts after the event.
