Sun Yang and Ranomi Kromowidjojo captured gold medals of the Men’s 1500m freestyle ad Women’s 50m freestyle respectively at the 2012 London Olympic Games.
World champion of the 1500m event, Yang demonstrated his stupendous efforts and improved his own personal mark of the discipline. He devastated hopes of his opponents in the thirty-lap freestyle discipline and snared gold medal of the race in a world record
time of 14 minutes and 31.02 seconds.
His stupendous place placed him almost 8.50 seconds ahead of his following swimmer, Ryan Cochrane of Canada, who stepped on the medal rostrum for silver medal by producing a time of 14 minutes and 39.63 seconds.
The Canadian swimmer was followed by defending champion, Oussama Mellouli of Tunisia, who stayed nearly 0.70 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and tapped the wall with an effort of 14 minutes and 40.31 seconds.
Fourth position of the race was obtained by Park Taehwan of Korea, who remained nearly 10 seconds apart and made his way to the finishing blockade in a time of 14 minutes and 50.61 seconds.
After that, the audience witnessed gruelling efforts of Kromowidjojo in the Women’s 50m discipline. With her outstanding pace, she remained one arm-stroke ahead of her following swimmer and touched the finishing wall in an improved Olympic record time of
24.05 seconds.
The champion was chased by Aliaksandra Herasimenia of Belarus, who stayed 0.23 seconds apart and settled on the finishing end as silver medallist by producing a time of 24.28 seconds.
Herasimenia was trailed by Kromowidjojo’s teammate, Marleen Veldhuis, who remained only 0.11 seconds slower from her former finisher and tapped the wall for bronze medal with an effort of 24.39 seconds.
Similarly, the defending champion and the world record holder, Britta Steffen appeared on the starting blocks as she concluded her race in fourth best place by reporting a time of 24.46 seconds.
In addition, the winners received medals and accolades for their notable efforts while the championship ended after the conclusion of all planned events in Men and Women’s corner.
