Dr Ghulam Rasool’s abduction: Doctors continue to boycott OPDs in Quetta
Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 12:30:33 by Fayyaz YaseenQuetta: (Tuesday, August 07, 2012) Over the protracted abduction of Dr. Ghulam Rasool, the doctors in Balochistan continued their boycott of the OPDs on Monday. The doctors, however, provided emergency services in both the private
and public hospitals.
It has been the sixth day since the doctors in Quetta and rest of the province are boycotting the OPDs. The call for the boycott was given by Pakistan Medical Association, Young Doctors, Baloch Doctors Forum and Paramedics Staff
Association.
The emergency wards in the government hospitals are functioning as usual and patients are being provided medical assistance.
However, due to the closure of the OPDs and non-availability of the doctors and the paramedical staff, patients have been suffering immensely and are being compelled to leave the wards as there are none to attend to their needs.
Commenting on the situation, Balochistan PMA leaders have reiterated that they would continue their protests until Dr. Ghulam Rasool returns safely.
