Missouri mosque destroyed in suspicious fire
Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 11:11:22 by Faisal FarooqRegardless of security measures, a fire razed a mosque in Missouri to the ground, leaving little but charred remains. It is vital to mention here that the worship place was attacked secondly within a month.
According to the media reports, authorities failed to ascertain the cause of the latest fire, as the security cameras were destroyed in the blaze. Although the law enforcement agencies have surveillance at the worship place, they failed to give protection the religious minority in the area.
Despite fears the Islamic Society of the Joplin is committed to continue his worships. An official of the society while talking to the media said, “This incident should not stop us from worshiping our God. We are going to find a place probably to continue our service to God”.
On July 4, surveillance video caught a man approaching the mosque and throwing “an ignited object” on the roof, causing minor exterior damage, according to the FBI. The FBI was offering a combined reward of $15,000 for information leading to the suspect arsonist in that incident.
Lahmuddin, the Imam of the mosque without specifying the new location said they would continue to pray the God.
“We just take this as a test from God. God is testing us. This is the month of Ramazan. We are fasting we are not supposed to get angry; we are not supposed to say anything bad. In Ramazan we are more careful in guarding our tongues, not to say anything inappropriate”.
The mosque’s burning comes as an Islamic center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, prepares to open for the first time after years of legal wrangling, vandalism and anti-Muslim sentiment.
The controversy erupted in 2010, when planning commissioners approved an expansion project at the existing mosque.
The incident follows a deadly attack on Sunday when at least seven people were shot dead, including a suspected gunman, during a shooting at a Sikh Gurdwara in Wisconsin, Milwaukee.
