Olympic Games 2012: Mark Zwiebler finds an easy start in Men’s Singles Group K
Tuesday, August 7th, 2012 4:23:40 by Muhammad Ahmad NazirMarc Zwiebler, who is top shuttler in Germany, played tremendous badminton in his first Men’s Singles battle in Group K and easily thrashed Maldives’ Rasheed Mohamed Ajfan at Olympic Games 2012 on July 28, at Wembley Arena, in London.
The World Number 18 Zwiebler was on a different level as he was one class above his lower ranked rival in all aspects and lived up to the expectations by ending up the match in a one-sided fashion.
The higher ranked Zwiebler showed his brilliant skills on court as he played with complete control and dictated his challenger in all areas of the court and eventually ended up the contest in straight games.
The un-seeded Rasheed, on the other hand, could not put up even a meagre resistance against his higher ranked rival. He failed to play fast badminton and remained struggling in all corners of the court and eventually lost battle with a one-sided margin.
Zwiebler dominated the opening game by putting up superb show on court as he played aggressive badminton coupled with powerful drives to move his rival in all corners took a wonderful lead until the mid-game break.
The lower ranked Rasheed failed create any trouble on court for the German shuttler and remained trailing far behind on the board.
Zwiebler continued his power play after the break as he showed no mercy to his un-seeded opponent at any stage of opening set and easily wrapped it up by a wonderful margin of 21-9.
In the second set, Zwiebler continued showing his tremendous performance on court as he did not let his rival to take charge of rallies and remained ahead on the board until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Zwiebler remained positive and consistent in his power play and he remained successful in ending up the second set with a phenomenal margin of 21-6.
The impressive Zwiebler showed his supremacy on court as he played with precision and won the battle by an incredible 21-9 and 21-6 margin on the score board.
