Addressing a press conference, the cricketer-turned-politician he would not spare anyone and would take them into the court of law who hurled allegations against him.
He noted, “The allegations were leveled in Ramzan as he (Khawaja Asif) knew this is when Shaukhat Khanum Trust collects the majority of its donations. By hurling these allegations the life of patients has been put in jeopardy”.
He said PML-N President Nawaz Sharif was hiding behind Khawaja Asif and Chaudhry Nisar, asking him to reply his eleven questions.
He appealed chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry to take notice of these allegations, asking him to save Shaukat Khanum from propaganda that provides free treatment to the poor.
The former captain announced that Shuakat Khanum Trust was about to break ground on another cancer hospital in Peshawar and would also build one in Karachi if they were provided lands.
He added, “Since the elections are nearing, they are going to target SKMH in their campaigns to malign my name. If he is truthful, then the case should be dealt by the Supreme Court so that the situation is made clear to the masses”.
Khan was of the opinion that the biggest responsibility of the politician was to secure public money and to spend wisely and transparently.
In his views, the Nawaz-League wanted to damage his credibility and ruin the hospital like it did in the past. He said that the allegations have caused damage to the fund collection for the biggest charity hospital.
The former captain said, “Asif knew that donations and funds are collected mainly in the month of Ramazan and that making such allegations during this time will affect the process. Where will we get the money from if the donations are frozen? What will happen to the poor patients who are given treatment for free?”
He said that his opponents accuse him of not providing the treatment despite asking for funds if SKMH fails to provide free treatment to the poor patients.
He said every year Rs2 billion is spent on treating the poor patients admitted to the hospitals.
