Nine injured in remote-control bomb blast
Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 2:30:38 by Faisal FarooqAt least nine people including three security personnel were injured when unidentified militants targeted a Frontier Corps (FC) vehicle.
According to the media reports, a remote control bomb went off when an FC vehicle was passing away at Jamrud Road, Gulabadad area of Peshawar.
The vehicle was enroute to Peshawar Saddar from Phase 6 Hayatabad when it came under attack near an under-construction bridge at the chowk, injuring six people and completely destroying the vehicle.
Three of the injured were shifted to Khyber Teaching Hospital (KTH) while the other three were shifted to Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC).
While speaking to the media, official of the Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) Hukam Khan said that around 5 kilogram of explosives had been used in the home-made device which was detonated via a remote control.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Fazal Wahid confirmed that there had been no loss of life and that the injured had been shifted to hospitals.
Superintendent Police (SP), Shabih Hussain, also talked media saying that in all nine people have been injured in the blast which targeted the security forces vehicle.
He remarked, “At least three kilograms of home-made IED had been used to target the FC pick-up. The blast was of low intensity and operated by remote control”.
FC spokesman Major Fazl while briefing the media confirmed that three of their men, including a captain, had been injured in the blast. The injured were rushed to CMH Peshawar and the Hayatabad Medical Complex.
It is worth mentioning here that militants continued to target vehicles of security personnel regularly in Ramazan. A couple of days, a blast targeted a vehicle of Livestock and Dairy Development.
