Islamabad: (Wednesday, August 08, 2012) It seems that the government has not given up on its attempts and hopes to salvage its Prime Minister from a possible disqualification at the hands of the Supreme Court as just today, when
a decision from a court was expected on future of the incumbent Prime Minister Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, it has filed a review petition in the Supreme Court pleading it to revisit its decision on Contempt of Court Act 2012.

The decision about filing the review petition was made after President Asif Ali Zardari’s meeting with coalition partners and the minister for law, Farooq Naek last Sunday.

Earlier, back on August 3, the Supreme Court had declared the Contempt of Court Act 2012 as unconstitutional and null and void.

The act, that was passed in haste by both of the legislative houses was signed into law by President Asif Ali Zardari on July 12.

According to the law experts, the review petition challenges several points of the court’s verdict.
