Olympics Games 2012: Spain’s Pablo Abian outshines Petr Koukal Men’s Singles Group O

The World Number 34 Abian, who has been impressive in the last few months at international stage, worked really hard against his lower ranked opponent Koukal and overpowered him with a narrow margin on the board.
The talented Spanish shuttler displayed his remarkable skills and won the opening game but lost the following set.
However, Abian played remarkable game in the final set and eventually won the battle in rubber games with a reasonable score.
On the other hand, Koukal played superb badminton as he was in wonderful control of rallies. However, he remained unable to overpower his rival and bowed down to him but not before snatching one game from Abian.
Abian started his campaign in a dominating manner in the opening set as he showed aggression and pushed his opponent in all areas of the court.
The higher ranked Abian was in good control and he took a reasonable lead until the end of opening half.
The Spanish man continued putting up good show after the break without making any uncharacteristic mistakes and remained successful in taking the set with a reasonable margin of 21-17.
However, Abian failed to continue his positive run in the following set as he lost his focus and remained struggling on score board until the one-minute break.
After the mid-game interval, Abian increased his speed to reduce the deficit but failed to create pressure on his opponent and eventually lost the game with a margin of 16-21.
In the decider, Abian played different badminton as he started to take the bird early from opening rallies and kept his rival under pressure by executing powerful shots. He remained ahead on the board until the break.
After the interval, Abian remained focused on court and managed to bag the second game with a comfortable margin of 21-16.
The aggressive Spanish shuttler emerged as the winner in this thrilling rubber set battle with an entertaining 21-17, 16-21 and 21-16 margin on the board.
