Michael Weiss and Megan Hawthorne win swimming titles – US Open Swimming Championships

Michael Weiss and Megan Hawthorne won gold medals of the 400m Individual Medley (IM) in Men and Women’s corner respectively at the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships.

Weiss faced no trouble in securing gold medal of the event as he rushed his way to the wall with an effort of 4 minutes and 15.79 seconds.

Weiss was chased by Adam Hinshaw, who stayed 2.12 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and occupied silver medal of the race by producing a time of 4 minutes and 17.91 seconds.

The 18-year-old Hinshaw was followed by Stephen Schmuhl, who stayed one body length behind and stepped on the victory stand for bronze medal by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 18.74 seconds.

Schmuhl was chased by Johnson, who failed to live up to the expectations of his supporters and finished fourth in the race by touching the wall with a timing of 4 minutes and 18.93 seconds.

Johnson was followed by Kyle Whitaker, who failed to make a notable improvement in his pace and ended his swim in fifth best place by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 21.06 seconds.

Subsequently, Hawthorne dominated the equivalent event in Women’s corner. With her unstoppable efforts, the 20-year-old Hawthorne went full rampant in the distant IM discipline and made her way to the finishing wall for gold medal with a timing of 4 minutes
and 40.43 seconds.

Her gold winning effort remained 0.47 seconds faster from Sarah Henry, who followed her on the medal rostrum for silver medal by clocking a time of 4 minutes and 40.90 seconds.

The silver medallist was traced by Rebecca Mann, who stayed 2.17 seconds slower from her former finisher and touched the finishing blockade for bronze medal by submitting a time of 4 minutes and 43.07 seconds.

Mann was followed by Celina Li, who stayed one and a half body length behind and settled on the finishing blockade as fourth fastest swimmer by reporting a time of 4 minutes and 44.29 seconds.

In addition, the position holders received medals and accolades for their noteworthy efforts after the session.
