Ratchanok Inthanon crushes Thilini Jayasinghe in Group M contest at Olympic Games 2012
Sunday, August 12th, 2012 4:15:26 by Muhammad Ahmad NazirRatchanok Inthanon, the most experienced shuttler from Thailand, put up staggering show of top class badminton in her Women’s Singles Group M battle when she outplayed Sri Lanka’s Thilini Jayasinghe at the Olympic Games 2012 at Wembley Arena, London England, on July 29.
Ratchanok, who has been placed at number 10 in Women’s Singles world placements, delivered a spectacular performance and overpowered Thilini in a classic fashion without showing any sign of confusion.
The in-form Thai shuttler was in marvellous form on court as she was quite comfortable in playing all of her shots and easily pushed her challenger in all corners.
The higher ranked Ratchanok remained successful in commanding the rallies throughout the battle and registered an easy victory over her Sri Lankan opponent with a one-sided score.
In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Thilini was fairly helpless against the flawless play of her Thai rival. She failed to stop the progress of Ratchanok and eventually lost the battle without taking any set.
Ratchanok did not consume much time in setting up a sensational lead on score board at the early stage in opening set as she was on driving seat.
Until the one-minute break, the impressive Thai shuttler was sailing with an incredible pace on court and remained ahead of her rival.
The higher ranked Ratchanok, after the one-minute break, continued putting up incredible performance on court without showing any mercy to her challenger and remained successful in taking the first set with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
Thilini also tried to put up strong show in the second game but she soon gave up fighting as her higher ranked opponent was too strong in all areas of the court.
The impressive Ratchanok was on track as she played flawless badminton without letting her opponent to narrow the difference until the end of opening half.
The in-form Thai shuttler remained positive after the one-minute break and continued her roller-coaster run to grab the second set with an incredible margin of 21- 5.
The mighty Ratchanok easily stamped her mark over Thilini by winding up the match in straight games with a striking 21-13 and 21-5 margin on the score board.
