Timmy Duggan signed by Team SpiderTech for the 2013 season

Timmy Duggan has joined Team SpiderTech powered by C10 for the season ahead and the US National Road Champion has decided to end his two-year association with Team Liquigas-Cannondale.

The cyclist started his professional pursuit with Team TIAA-CREF in 2005 and spent a period of six years with the team.

He grabbed the fourth overall place at the Tour of Puerto Rico, fifth at the Volta a LIeida, third at the National Time Trial Championships and occupied the fourth overall position at the Vuelta Chihuahua through 2005-2007.

Timmy occupied the seventh overall position at the Tour of Utah 2011 and succeeded at the American National Road Race Championships 2012.

“I’m thrilled to join Team SpiderTech in 2013,” said Duggan.

“I already know a bunch of the guys on the squad so it’s a comfortable move and this is a team that’s really on the way up”.

“Steve (Bauer) has accomplished a lot at the highest level of the sport so for me there is no doubt about the team’s quality of leadership and passion for winning”.

Team SpiderTech Director Steve Bauer showed his excitement after signing Timmy and cited that the American can really help the team in the coming seasons.

“Timmy rides with panache which has earned him the respect of legions of fans around the world and his scrappy, exciting style aligns perfectly with our vision of winning races and drawing in new fans,” he cited.

The Italian team is having an outstanding season and currently holds the second overall position after the UCI World Tour team’s rankings.

Team Liquigas-Cannondale holds the second overall spot with 988 UCI points to its credit with Team Sky leading the category with 1318 points.

Vincenzo Nibali (400 points), Peter Sagan (351 points), Moreno Moser (115 points), Ivan Basso (88 points) and Sylwester Szmyd (34 points) made the major contributions.

Team Omega Pharma-Quick Step, Team Katusha, Team BMC and Team Astana holds the third, fourth, the fifth and the sixth positions respectively.

Duggan could not register any performances during his stay with Team Liquigas and now hopes to put an improved effort with the new team.
