Kenneth To and Sarah Henry occupy gold medals – US Open Swimming Championships

Kenneth To and Sarah Henry occupied gold medal of the 200m Individual Medley (IM) in Men and Women’s corner respectively at the 2012 US Open Swimming Championships.

His alluring effort remained half body length ahead of his closest rival as he touched the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 00.13 seconds for the crown.

The gold medallist was followed by Adam Hinshaw, who remained 0.44 seconds behind and earned silver medal of the race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 00.57 seconds.

Hinshaw was chased by Cory Chitwood, who remained only 0.27 seconds behind and tapped the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 00.84 seconds for bronze medal.

Chitwood remained just 0.24 seconds faster from Kyle Whitaker, who failed to claim the third fastest spot on the podium and finished fourth in the race with an effort of 2 minutes and 01.08 seconds.

The 20-year-old Whitaker was chased by Austin Surhoff, who stayed 2.17 seconds away from his preceding swimmer and posted a time of 2 minutes and 03.25 seconds for fifth position.

Following that, Henry stunned the crowd by winning gold medal of the Women’s 200m IM. Henry, who qualified into the playoff as fourth fastest swimmer, elevated her efforts in the final round and proved her mettle for gold medal by posting a time of 2 minutes
and 12.81 seconds.

Her gold winning effort remained 0.45 seconds ahead of Melanie Margalis, who failed to meet expectations of her supporters and secured second position of the race by producing a time of 2 minutes and 13.26 seconds.

The second position holder was followed by Meghan Hawthorne, who also geared up her pace in the final round and ensured her place on the podium for bronze medal by touching the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 13.71 seconds.

Hawthorne was traced by Erika Erndl, who was only 0.03 seconds away from her former finisher and settled on the wall as fourth fastest swimmer with a timing of 2 minutes and 13.74 seconds.

Furthermore, the position holders received medals and accolades after the session.
