Pakistan turns greens for Independence Day Celebrations

The celebrations begun with a 31-gun salute in the Federal Capital and 21-gun salute in all the four provincial capitals.
A colourful ceremony of change of the guard took place at the mausoleum of Quaid-e-Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Pakistan’s founder, in Karachi.
A number of events have been chalked out to celebrate the Independence Day in a befitting manner and pay homage to those, who laid down their lives to create an independent motherland for the coming generations.
People from various walks of life have decorated their houses with national flags and the buildings, city shopping centres, bazaars and all the main roads are also being adorned with flags and fancy lights.
National songs are in the air, which give the message that whole the nation is united and tidy. The national flag is being hoisted at the important buildings to celebrate the day with befitting manners.
Besides prayers for the solidarity and stability of the country, they are renewing the commitment to serve it with zeal and sincerity.
Tributes are paid to founding father Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah and great thinker and philosopher Allama Dr Muhammad Iqbal, who gave Muslims of sub-continent idea of a separate homeland. An impressive ceremony of ‘change of guard’ also took place at Mazar-e-Quaid.
Main event of the federal capital was flag hoisted by Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf at Convention Centre while series of other events have been planned for the day by the political parties, civil society and other strata of life.
Key government buildings including the Parliament House, Supreme Court of Pakistan, Prime Minister’s House, President House, Secretariat and other important places in the capital were illuminated as part of Independence Day celebrations.
August 14, 1947 represents the victory of those politicians who worked relentlessly to free the Muslims from the British repression.
Men, women and children all over Pakistan and abroad celebrating Independence Day to pay their respect to those rendered sacrifices for an independent country.
