Lamont Peterson talks about the allegations from team Khan
Friday, August 17th, 2012 10:44:25 by Imran Shaukat KhanLamont Peterson defeated Amir Khan last year on December 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C, in a fight which ended up in a storm of controversy.
After securing a controversial split decision over Khan, the American came positive on drug-testing and the news created a stir in the boxing world. However, recently the International Boxing Federation cleared Peterson from all charges, considering the drugs were for therapeutic usage.
Khan did a lot of trash talk against Peterson after losing his IBF and WBA light welterweight titles but now when Peterson has been cleared, he has responded to all statements from his archrival.
In an interview with RingTV.com, the American pugilist shared his thoughts with the media over his fight with Khan.
“I’m going to tell you this. I’m going to have to leave that situation alone. Me, I’m not one to talk badly about anyone if it ain’t in their face,” replied the current IBF light welterweight titlist.
“I don’t say anything bad about them if I can’t say it to their face. With that being said, I really don’t want to discuss anything with him,” added Peterson who believes Khan has spoken a lot of ‘bad’ things about him.
Khan and Peterson were set for a rematch on May 19 at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. Nevertheless, their fight couldn’t materialize due to Peterson’s positive drug testing that emerged in April, just twenty days before the fight.
While taking to the media Peterson said he is happy with his IBF title and he doesn’t have any issues, if the Bolton man doesn’t want to fight him.
“They said a lot of bad things, but I’m not going to say anything on the internet or anything like that. If it materializes, that would be another story. But right now, I don’t need to fight him,” remarkekd Peterson, concluding his remarks regarding the entire scenario.
Well, all said and done, let’s see how Amir Khan responds to these statements from Peterson.
