Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ box office numbers beyond historic!
Friday, August 17th, 2012 9:42:47 by Imran Shaukat KhanAs was widely expected, Salman Khan’s ‘Ek Tha Tiger’ broke many box office records on the day 1 of its release. The movie generated an amount of Rs 30 crore on the first day hence putting aside records that were created by Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan not too long ago.
Directed by Kabir Khan, the film featured Salman’s ex-flame Katrina Kaif as the female lead. The movie opened to packed houses on the Independence Day and became a landmark film for Salman Khan.
“To state that #EkThaTiger has created History would be wrong. Wed figures are BEYOND HISTORIC,” tweeted trade expert Taran Adarsh.
Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Ra. One’, which was released last year had the record of highest any day collection whereas Hrithik Roshan’s ‘Agneepath’ had the record of the biggest opening day ever.
“Shahrukh had the record of highest collections for any day with RA.ONE while Hrithik had the biggest opening day ever with AGNEEPATH. Both of them have been surpassed by many crores with EK THA TIGER opening so phenomenally well,” informs an industry insider.
The film has proved that Salman is certainly having the best phase of his career at this point in time and as far as Katrina is concerned, she is also on cloud nine since she will make an entry in the Rs 100 crore club as well with this film.
“This would now be Salman’s fourth 100 crore film in a row and also mark an entry for Katrina Kaif in the club,” the insider adds, “Since Eid is next week, there would an extended run over the weekdays as well than just be a weekend run.”
The Star maker, Yash Chopra, is currently working on his forthcoming musical film, which has been given any title yet.
Chopra’s untitled film will Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif in the lead roles and it will be released on Diwali (November 13).
Chopra has returned to romantic films with SRK after a gap of 8 years as a result to which the film has created an enormous hype among the audiences.
Nevertheless, let’s see if Shah Rukh Khan can really overshadow Salman Khan this time.
