Shoaib Akhtar offer to become bowling coach of Pakistan

It is vital to mention here the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is hunting for a bowling coach since appointing Australian Dav Whatmore as head coach in March, with former Essex paceman Ian Pont the leading contender.
The cricket board set up a three-member committee to find suitable candidate. However, it didn’t finalize any name for the crucial post.
Considering his capabilities, the former Pakistani fast bowler threw his hate into the ring to train Pakistani youngsters.
While speaking to the media the pacer said, “I am ready to be the bowling coach for Pakistan and if the board contacts me then I will offer my services”.
Shoaib Akhtar, whose entire career was blighted by fitness and discipline problems, has announced retirement from the sport after the 2011 World Cup and has since been involved in business.
The former pacer, who held the record of fastest bowler in the world, took 178 wickets in 46 Tests and 247 in 163 one-day internationals.
He commented, “It’s an honor to serve the country and it can be done by helping the upcoming bowlers. It will give me a chance to pay back what the country has given me”.
It is vital to mention here that Pakistan will face Australia in a limited-overs series in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with three twenty20s and three one-day internationals.
The pacer was of the opinion that the Green-Shirts will miss fast bowler Umar Gul, who hasn’t been selected for the crucial series.
He stated, “Both Gul and Brett Lee will be missed in the series but it will be a good series and bowlers will play a key role in the series”.
It is vital to mention here that Brett Lee, who was considered as fast as Shoaib Akhtar, has announced his retirement from international cricket last month.
