Lahore: the historic city and cultural capital of Pakistan
With a non-stop buzz, this city is called cultural capital of the country. A number of sites of historical significance are found here in abundance, which was once the capital of the Mughal Empire. Lahore Fort, Badshahi Mosque and Jehangir Tomb are three of the most august sites.
The Lahore Fort, which also known as Shahi Qila, is the famous fort of the sub-continent. Its origins can be traced back to the ancient times but the current construction was done during the reign of Mughal emperor Akbar in between 1556–1605, and frequently renovated by succeeding rulers.
The old city, Sufi night, Food Street and the eloquent flag lowering ceremony on the Wahga border are some of the many charms available.
