New BMW 640i Gran Coupe: First look at the German sedan 2012 model

The new BMW 640i Gran Coupe is a sedan with  a great specification sheet and beautiful design. The driver system offers great fuel efficiency and inside stereo system is one of the best in luxury cars.

The connected car system with all the social networking applications called ConnectedDrive is only available for the iPhones.

The overall design of the new Gran Coupe is not more than a twisted design over the generic BMW aesthetics we have seen in the last one decade.

However, it is what matters under the hood. There lies a V8 engine inside the bonnet, instead of the conventional 3-litre 6-cylinder set. The V8 is supported by a twin-scroll supercharger. Both, hand-in-hand, unleash 320 horses to the rear wheels. The drive system also dispatches 332 pound-feet torque at the same venue for great pick up speed.

The result of all this combination is a speed gain that takes the 640i to 60 miles an hour in 5.4 seconds.

The automatic gear-box takes the car from fuel-hungry status to an efficient one. The drive is smooth without any hiccups and power dips. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) takes an estimate of 20 mpg city and 30 mpg highway, impressive numbers for a big German cruiser.

The interior is as elegant as the outside. The Bang & Olufsen audio system is one of the biggest treats in the 640i. Moreover, the Google-based navigation system, found in the likes of Audis is another plus.

The 16-speaker audio system has a 1,200 watts of amplification from the system and produces great quality tunes. The rear speaker metallic grilles are even more royalist look.

The ConnectedDrive system offers a good choice of application including social networking apps like Facebook and Twitter. However, the ConnectedDrive system is only available for iPhones.
