American wild card entrant, Bradley Klahn, stunned the qualifying ninth seed, Florent Serra, in straight sets at the US Open 2012 on Friday. He nudged up a 6-4, 6-4 victory against
the French veteran to cruise into the main draw at this last of the four Grand Slam events held in Queens in New York City, United States.
The crowd favourite displayed exceptional skills to upset the veteran in their first encounter. After recording the success in one hour and seven minutes, Klahn assertively entered
the first round at this major hard court event held in Flushing Meadows.
Overall, Klahn recorded a slightly better first serve share of 65 per cent as opposed to his rival’s 63 per cent but impressively availed 29 out of 35 points on it. He cashed in both
break chances and smashed 20 winners to carve out the victory.
The qualifying fourth seed, Lukas Rosol, face a bitter fate later that day. He suffered a 3-6, 3-6 loss against Argentina’s Guido Pella in one hour and seven minutes.
The Czech, who is responsible for the biggest upset at the Wimbledon Championships this season, squandered his both break opportunities in the opening set. In addition to this, he
only warded off three out of four breakpoints he came across and eventually endured a 3-6 loss in 34 minutes.
Rosol carried his dismal ways in the proceeding set. He committed six double faults and failed to seek any break chance. Adding further to his misery, the Czech only blocked two out
of four breakpoints he came across and consequently lost the set with a 3-6 score line in 33 minutes.
The lower ranked challenger on the other hand assertively progressed into the main draw.
