The spirited Iskandar Zulkarnain Zainuddin, an emerging shuttler from Malaysia, made his presence felt to the world by putting up strong show as advanced into Men’s Singles pre-quarter-final after beating Hong Kong’s Ka Long Ng in second round encounter
at the Yonex Sunrise Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012 on Wednesday, August 22, in Vietnam.
The in-form Iskandar, who is un-seeded player in Men’s Singles draw of the event, showed his impressive class by playing attacking and positive badminton and remained successful in crushing his Hong Kong opponent in an inspiring manner.
The in-form Iskandar got a wonderful rhythm on court as he played with superb control by taking the bird in time from all corners and easily registered a sensational victory against his opponent by ending up the match in two games.
The confused Ka Long, on the other hand, failed to impress the crowd as he failed to dictate the terms of the game and remained struggling all the way in both sets. He lost the battle in straight games with a reasonable score on the board.
In the first set, it was the Malaysian shuttler who played with confidence from opening rallies and remained in tremendous control by putting up superb show.
The passionate Iskandar was in complete control of rallies and he got a strong position until the mid-game interval.
After the break, the Malaysian player remained on track as he played with impressive speed at net and also managed to maintain his strong position on board to end up the set with a close margin of 21-19.
In the following game, the in-form Iskandar was on a different level as he showed his remarkable skills and remained successful in taking an early lead against his Hong Kong opponent until the one-minute interval.
After the mid-game break, the impressive Malaysian player continued his smashing run without sparing any chance for his rival. He commanded the rallies in the entire second set and finished it off with a stunning margin of 21-12.
The lofty Iskandar sent his Hong Kong challenger packing in straight sets with a superb 21-19 and 21-12 difference on the score board.
