Militants kill three cops in Hangu

It is vital to mention here that Hangu is the district of the country’s troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.
However, police blamed Taliban militants for the attack saying they fired on a patrol party and fled away from the scene.
Hangu Police chief Mian Mohammad Saeed while talking to the media said that Taliban were active in the area and they were responsible for several attacks in the past. He confirmed the killings of three cops in the incident.
Another senior police official while confirming the attack blamed militants for the incident. Following the incident, the law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
Earlier, a newspaper quoting a confidential report said that the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) was planning more terrorist activities in major cities of the country.
According to the report, Peshawar, Lahore, Multan, Bannu, Karachi and Islamabad will be on the hit list of militants.
According to the intelligence report, the decision in this regard was taken at a secret meeting presided TTP commander Qari Shafiullah Moavia.
“The TTP plans on kidnapping serving and retired officers and American citizens to collect finances, as well as to negotiate the release of their accomplices in jails or in the custody of intelligence agencies”, it added.
The National Crisis Management Cell (NCMC) of the Interior Ministry forwarded the report to all provincial home departments, provincial police chiefs, provincial heads of other law enforcement agencies, Islamabad chief commissioner and the Islamabad police chief.
