PTI convener joins Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz
Thursday, August 23rd, 2012 12:52:01 by Faisal FarooqIn quite a strange development, a convener of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has joined Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz, citing disillusionment by the party as reasons behind the move.
Rana Muhammad Tanvir, who was the candidate for the PP-155 constituency, expressed annoyance over the behavior of senior leadership.
On the other side, the PML-N happily accepted him into the party fold in a proper induction ceremony.
While speaking to the media, he said that he had been disillusioned by the PTI’s recruitment of veteran politicians such as Sheikh Rashid, whom he described as the final straw that provoked his quitting the party.
He observed, “I have enrolled 37,000 youths in PP-155 to the PTI but the party had not repaid my hard work. The PTI chief has no control over his party and has become rude and the PTI was in internal disarray”.
In his view, he was support of the PML-N before joining hands with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
However, a media report quoting sources said that the said candidate had been unlikely to win the party’s ticket for the constituency.
“The party currently had 16 serious candidates for that constituency, among them Omar Sarfraz Cheema, Mehmood Gilani and Rana Fawad Rasool while the party’s leadership would decide the candidate on merit”, the report added.
It further said that the PTI was not surprising that those not getting party tickets would try to get them from other political parties.
Senator Pervaiz Rashid, who is also spokesperson of the Punjab government, said the make-up of Imran Khan in which he appeared at Minar-e-Pakistan wore off till he reached Liaqat Bagh.
“On the other hand, Imran Khan put the power of people in the lap of feudal lords who do not need support of Imran Khan as they come into power on the tanks of armed corps” he claimed.
While addressing an induction ceremony, he said that the PML-N returned the power to the masses by strengthening political workers whenever the people elected them.
He claimed that the PTI was the only party which has forgotten its promises with the workers even before coming into power.
