Visio, the computer display makers have officially entered the laptop OEM industry with release of the new Visio CT14, first of the two super-slim notebooks launched by the company a couple of months ago.
The new CT14 is a great device for a number of reasons. If you take into consideration the company and its first venture in this business, the CT14 is a great laptop for that matter. The matte sliver finish is a great look to it. While the laptop has a few throwbacks, the design and other hardware features make it one of the strongest candidates in the ultra-thin laptop market.
The keyboard, absence of back lighting and SD card are a deal breaker but over if the user can live within these constraints the device is a handful of items to lure the customers to the shops.
Visio also released CT15 along with CT14, the 15 incher that is expected to show up in a week’s time.
Design
Showcased first at a small launch event in California, Visio CT14 was a looker, though not much different in shape from CT15, the little brother was touted to be more successful because of its small size and greater portability.
Even being the first device to come out of Visio’s factory, the new CT14 does not disappoint in shape and dimensions. The display-makers have done a marvellous job in manufacturing the new device keeping in mind the fashion and solidity.
At 0.67 inches the laptop is not fringing at ultrabook threshold, in fact it is well within the constraints. Visio did not take risk of beefing it up on the weight scale. The new device is 3.4 pounds in mass, well within the limits of earning an ultrabook badge. Some ultrabooks push the envelope to the extent, including SATAs and optical drives to increase the mass and depth. Some of the ultrabooks skirt around the threshold of 4 pounds at a hair’s breadth.
