Rehman Malik says government to create interfaith council for religious harmony

Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik while speaking to the media said that the government was going to create inter-faith council to create religious harmony in the country.
He explained that the council will be comprised Ulema of all religious schools of thoughts and its chairmanship will be rotated among them after every three months.
“An Inter-faith conference at national level is also being held on August 30, to discuss as to how sectarian harmony can be promoted in the country”, he added.
The minister said a mega event of Conference on Interfaith Harmony would be held to promote tolerance and ensure sectarian harmony and protect rights of minorities.
He urged the masses of the country to get united to foil nefarious designs of enemy who want to create instability in Pakistan through subversive activities.
When he was asked about law and order situation in Balochistan, Malik asked Baloch dissident leaders to come on the dialogue table with the incumbent for addressing the issues of Baloch people.
He urged self-exiled Baloch nationalist leaders to return to the country for helping Baloch people to resolve their issues while remaining among them.
“They could make Pakistan especially Balochistan the most prosperous area of the world with unity, peace and stability”, he added.
When he was asked to comment on reported statement of Taliban spokesman that they would retaliate if operation was launched in North Waziristan‚ the Minister said they do so at the instance of someone else.
The minister clarified that it is known that Maulana Fazlullah and Maulvi Faqir are operating from Kunhar province of Afghanistan.
It would not have been possible for them to carry out attacks on this side of the border‚ martyr our people and take back their own injured without active foreign support.
Malik insisted the Taliban to surrender arms otherwise the government is determined to take the campaign against terrorism to its logical conclusion.
