Restaurant tales: Get your steaks at Fijji’s Grill!
Sunday, August 26th, 2012 1:44:02 by Shahrukh SohailAfter their grand opening, me and my cousin headed off to the eatery proudly boasting that it had “the best steaks in town.”
Statements like these are common and often the restaurant never lives up to their name. But as we were welcomed into the swanky Blue Area establishment, I was optimistic about the upcoming meal.
That hunger soon turned into disdain, as we were served the most putrid starter I have come across in all my years of being a food lover. ‘Cheese Nans’ as they were called, turned out to be soggy and downright disgusting, leaving me and my cousin to share
some worrying looks.
As far as the menu goes, I chose the Cowboy steak, without the egg and a good helping of fries for starches. Feeling let down by the starter, I was beginning to wonder whether the whole trip would be a waste of precious time and money.
However, Fijjis managed to somehow salvage their reputation, with perfectly grilled medium-well done Tenderloin that was accompanied by fresh stir-fried vegetables. The whole concoction was basted in a delicious yet creamy Mushroom sauce, making every morsel
of the tender beef a feast for the taste buds.
Too stuffed for dessert, we ended things by signalling for the bill, which was decadently priced and cost nearly 1200 per person.
Rating: 7.75/10
Recommendation: Steaks are truly worth it at Fijjis, but believe me when I tell you; Don’t eat the complimentary starter!
