Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012: Nguyen Tien Minh powers his way into Men’s Singles semi-final

Nguyen Tien Minh, the most seasoned and successful shuttler of Vietnam, lived up to expectations as he powered his way into Men’s Singles semi-final after crushing Japan’s Kento Momota in quarter-final match at Vietnam Open Grand Prix 2012
on August 24, in Vietnam.

The higher ranked Tien Minh, who has been positioned at the 14th place in Men’s Singles world ranking, played to his maximum potential and remained successful in trouncing his Japanese rival in a convincing manner.

The top seeded Tien Minh shuttler was in full swing on court as he played attacking badminton in the whole contest and overpowered Momota easily by ending up the match in straight games by taking just 40 minutes on court.

In the meanwhile, the lower ranked Momota could not maintain his killing performance streak as he failed to create pressure on his local challenger and crashed out without winning any set.

The impressive Tien Minh played with wonderful confidence in opening points of first game as he played with wonderful speed in all areas of the court and set up a reasonable gap at the starting rallies.

The top seeded Vietnamese player was playing with impressive control in his shots and dictated his rival in all corners. He was focused on court and grabbed a remarkable lead until the one-minute break.

Tien Minh continued his elevated play after the mid-game interval as he played with precision and eventually ended up the first set by putting up a wonderful 21-14 margin on the board.

In the following set, the Japanese player also played attacking badminton by showing glimpses of his brilliance.

He employed aggressive strokes and did not allow his higher ranked opponent to take an early lead at the starting points.

Nevertheless, the impressive Tien Minh changed his tactics and accelerated his speed to set up a tremendous lead until the mid-game interval.

The Vietnamese shuttler continued his tremendous run on court and remained successful in winding up the second game with a reasonable 21-18 score on the board.

The home favourite Tien Minh did not disappoint his fans as he won the quarter-final match in an emphatic fashion with a superb margin of 21-14 and 21-18.
